Guerra: “We’re going for the three points against Villarreal CF”
The Valencia CF midfielder talks to VCF Radio before the regional derby
Valencia CF midfielder Javi Guerra talked on Wednesday about the team’s upturn in results in LaLiga and the regional derby against Villarreal.
Dynamics
“We are doing very well. The team have given off a good image in these last few matches, especially at Mestalla. We are strong with the support of all the fans. Away from home we have to try to be strong and improve our results, which is an important point to get better at.”
The victory against CD Leganés
“Both that win and the one against RC Celta de Vigo were two 'finals' for our objective. They were two games that gave us a lot of confidence, not only because of the result but because of the way we played. Now we are going to Villarreal to get a positive result.”
Season
“This is a very long campaign, and we have not achieved anything yet. We are seeing a positive showing. The team know what they are doing and we have to keep improving.”
Mestalla
“The games at home were against direct rivals. Taking the three points has affected us in a positive way. We have to continue with this dynamic and keep improving.”
Competitiveness in the second half of the season
“Apart from the games we've won, the two in which we didn't get the three points were lost in the final minutes. You can see that Valencia CF are competing with anyone we have in front of us. We have improved in terms of going ahead and not having the other team come back, and that is giving us points.”
Away games
“We are strong at Mestalla, but we have been lacking that certain something away from home. Staying up is also down to that. Winning away from home would give us a boost.”
Villarreal CF
“These are usually heated games. It's an important game for me and we have to go for it with everything we have in order to win. Those three points would give us a lot. It won't be just another game; it's a regional derby and there will be a lot at stake.”
His individual performances
“I feel very good. Since the coach arrived, he has given me a lot of confidence. He tries to get the most out of everyone. Personally, I'm happy with my performances and with the good feeling I have on the pitch. Anything that gives positive things to the team is welcome. I like to take responsibility. I think we all have that. Everyone who plays is important and we all have to work hard to get the most out of ourselves.”
